The Hungarian National Development Agency (NDA) – responsible for the management of EU development programmes – in cooperation with the European Commission held its 2nd international evaluation conference in Budapest entitled:
EVALUATION: EVIDENCE-BASED TOOLS FOR DECISION MAKING IN THE EU AND WORLWIDE
20 invited speakers from the European Commission, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Council of Europe Development Bank and other international evaluation organizations as well as evaluation experts from the Visegrad countries and Hungary shared their experience with the audience. The conference aimed at exploring the role of evaluations in decision making from the perspectives of international development banks, the European Commission, international evaluation organizations and evaluation experts of the Visegrad countries and Hungary. Efforts to enhance efficiency of programmes and projects within the EU – i.e. the EU 2020 economic growth strategy for the coming decade and the current discussions on the future of Cohesion Policy after 2013 – give a strong impetus to evidence-based evaluations.
Nearly 30 participants out of 110 represented 11 countries all over Europe, among them the Visegrad countries, and the Evaluation Networks of the European Commission, while approximately 80 Hungarian participants included experts from public administration and evaluation as well as academics.
