The Hungarian National Development Agency (NDA) – responsible for the management of EU Structural and Cohesion Funds development programmes – in cooperation with the European Commission held its 3rd international evaluation conference in Budapest entitled:


20 invited speakers form the European Commission and EU member states shared their experience with an international audience on the planning processes and tasks related to the preparations of Cohesion Policy’s next programming period 2014-2020 with a special focus on evaluation as an important tool for preparations and fine-tuning of current implementation. The conference aimed at, besides presenting member states’ preparations so far and the European Commission’s requirements towards ex ante evaluations and environmental and strategic assessments, exploring through international and Hungarian examples in what ways evidence-based evaluations can provide professional support for strategic decision making, policy planning and implementation.

45 international participants out of the 130 represented 12 countries all over Europe, among them members of the European Commission’s Evaluation Networks, public administration and evaluation experts as well as academics.

Following traditions, the evaluation yearbook “Evaluations in Hungary 2012” was released at the conference presenting the most important findings and recommendations of Hungarian evaluations commissioned by NDA and carried out by independent external evaluators in the following areas: transport developments, public education developments, fulfilling the EU environmental requirements, Roma integration interventions and midterm evaluation of communication activities.
